Explain Me Not

We are seeking a prototype form for construction of an exhibition that would prompt another reading of it. The structure of the poem freely links the flow of thought to smaller units, gives it rhythm and works with the similarity of structures and repetition. Recitation contributes to further interpretations and expands the possibilities of perceiving a work in multiple modifications. One usually goes only once to an exhibition, but a poem is recited or sung repeatedly. We are reconciled to the fact that everything we do is immediately compared to the past. But is the work of art not denied its right to the present by the hypertrophy of context? The rhythm of the poem, reading aloud, learning from memory, recitation and repetition of verse represent a return to the present. To obscure the imprint of the past in our consciousness is folly and to suppress that which is present in the present is academic. The exhibition by its genealogy and etymology carries within it a message of didacticism – to exhibit, reveal, disclose, display. It is a modern instrument of acquiring knowledge. That does not mean, however, that one must acquire knowledge only by means of a single, linear passage. Explain me not – Forget me not.
